Lower cross syndrome is the result of muscle imbalance and irregular tone of muscles in the lumbosacral region of the spinal column. These muscular disbalants can show up when the muscles are in an irregular relationship with each other ie. one are strained, overly facilitated, and others are usually weak, excessively inhibited. This condition is marked as a lower-cross syndrome, because a similar disbalance of muscle tone called the upper crosssyndrome is found in the area of the cervical region. Both the upper and lower cross syndrome were first described and appointed by Czech researcher and doctor Vladimir Janda. By analyzing posture, monitoring client status and mobility tests, we found that the client has a sway back posture which is one of the forms of postures appearing in the lower cross syndrome. The main goal of this kinesiterapic treatment is to achieve normal function of the spine, primarily the lumbar region in this case, and in that way we mean to achieve a neutral position of the pelvis with resolving of the muscle imbalance. The focus is on relaxation of the excessive tone of the hamstrings and rectus abdominus muscle that are dominant in this posture and we also want to strengthen the weak gluteal muscle, hip flexors and side abdominal muscles that are inhibited. After the kinesiterapic treatment, pelvis and other segments in the posture that were not in the correct position were brought in neutral. Muscle disbalants are resolved by controlled relaxation and stretching techniques, as well as selected trainings to strengthen weakened muscles, and the client can perform movements that he has not been able to do before. The client is advised to regularly perform kinesiterapic exercises in order to retain newly created posture during daily activities and to prevent from the possible return of dysfunctional status.
