In kinesitherapy, a young branch of kinesiology, manual therapy is increasingly entering the standard rehabilitation procedure and is it’s first step in solving pain. Limited flexibility in the human population is most common in the pelvis and lower extremities. The aim of this study was to determine whether there are differences in flexibility in the iliotibial tract after the ART technique. The ART technique is aimed at the manipulation of soft tissues, originating from America. For the purposes of the study, it was necessary to measure the range of motion of the iliotibial tract using the modified Ober test of the dominant and non-dominant leg. Therapy was performed using the ART technique with distal and proximal movements, after which the range of motion was measured again with the Ober test. The research was conducted in kinesitherapy centers in Zadar and Split, where therapeutic tables and an EasyAngle goniometer from the Swedish company Meloq were used. 17 physically active young people, athletes, participated in the research itself. therefore, the presented results indicate that ART has an acute effect in increasing flexibility in the iliotibial tract, which indicates that in the future we should look at proving how ART or certain other manual techniques have a long-term effect on soft tissue.
