The goal of this paper is to analyse rugby as a sport activity, it's characteristics, most common injuries and ways of injury prevention. The goal is also to explain the psychological well-being of an athlete during an on going injury, as well as the state after recovery and return to the pitch. Rugby is a sport in which the locomotor system of a player is heavily pressured due to the specific elements and motion structures. Because of this heavy pressure, the players are often exposed to injuries. In order to minimise the number of injuries, it is important to put emphasis on the importance of prevention, which is created by implementing a planned and programmed training process, focused on the specific needs of a certain athlete. Injuries can often lead to players taking a stop from their trainings, games, seasons and in worst cases, the end of ones sporting career which can have an effect on the psychological state of an athlete in a great extent. Therefore it's very important for us as conditioning coaches to do everything in our power to prevent a possible injury from happening. Genetic component is something that can't be affected, but we can affect other causes through development of mobility, strength, power, correct technique of movements and dosage of overall fatigue. Considering that today, athletes demands from its own body can overflow the physiological capacity of humans organism, it is very important to address each athlete individually and give it maximum attention.
