Abstract Osnovni cilj ovog istraživanja je utvrditi osnovna obilježja psiholoških vještina suočavanja mladih gimnastičarki.
Abstract (english) The main aim of this research was to determine the basic characteristics of the psychological coping skills of young female gymnasts. A total of 48 young female gymnasts from 8 artistic gymnastics clubs between the ages of 10 and 18 participated in this research. With the exception of the freedom from worry scale, all other ACSI-28 psychological coping skills scales had at least satisfactory metric characteristics of reliability, homogeneity, and sensitivity. The construct of freedom from worry (anxiety) was not confirmed in the sample of young female gymnasts. In the total sample of young female gymnasts, psychological coping skills were expressed: self-confidence - motivation was very high (4.09); coachability was high (3.85); concentration (3.48), mental preparation - setting goals (3.26), and coping with adversity (3.19) were moderately expressed; peaking under pressure was very low (2.33). No significant differences were found in the expression of psychological coping skills between three subgroups of young female gymnasts of different chronological ages. No significant differences were found in the expression of psychological coping skills between two subgroups of young female gymnasts with different training experience with respect to their age at the start of gymnastics training. Although for most of the scales of the ACSI 28 questionnaire, no significant differences were found in the expression of psychological coping skills between the three subgroups of young female gymnasts with different training experience with regard to their number of hours of gymnastics training per week, partial differences were found in two psychological coping skills measures between subgroups: first, those who train the most hours per week (16 or more hours) had a higher level of concentration compared to those who train only up to 10 hours per week (LSD test p=0.03); second, those who train between 11 and 15 hours per week had a lower level of peaking under pressure skill compared to those who train the most hours per week, 16 or more hours of training per week (LSD test p=0.03). In general, the results of this research point the need for education of young female gymnasts and their coaches in the areas of psychological coping skills.
