The aim of this study was to determine the incidence and localization of knee pain in basketball players using an anonymous newly constructed Questionnaire for assessing the incidence of pain and knee injury and to determine the basic metric characteristics of the questionnaire and differences with regard to chronological age and their playing position. The sample of respondents represents 44 active Croatian basketball players from all over the Republic of Croatia, ranging from 16 to 39 years. Their chronological age averages 23.05 ± 5.28 years. Their body weight averages 67.77 ± 7.34 kg, their body height averages 176.76 ± 6.35 cm, and their body mass index (BMI) is 21.65 ± 1.49. With the questionnaire on the incidence of pain and knee injuries, it is possible to qualitatively measure the incidence of pain and injuries on basketball players because the questionnaire has good metric characteristics. The incidence of pain and knee injuries in female basketball players is medium, but there are many players (approximately 45%) for whom it is possible to determine that they have highly pronounced pain and knee injuries. Of all respondents, 39% reported having experienced a knee injury so far. No significant differences were found between the two groups of players, younger (22 or younger) and older players (23 or older), in the incidence of knee pain and injury on any of the measured variables. It is recommended to repeat a similar study on a larger number of respondents, including a larger number of players from ‘center’ positions and including in the study a larger number of variables possibly related to basketball movements.
